Competition 101

This weekend we attended our first AKC event in Greenville South Carolina with our good friends Jessica and her beautiful Weimaraner Mia! We spent two days in Maggie Valley, NC (just outside of Ashville, NC) with Debbie, her husband Joe and her gorgeous Weimaraner Sky, half sister to Mia. Not only was Debbie gracious enough to open her home to us and the dogs, she also provided us with invaluable information about the world of AKC competition and patiently answered what seemed to be an endless stream of questions!

Remi was entered in two matches and performed beautifully. While I can't say the same for myself, I can say that Remi was terrific! There were a lot of firsts for us this weekend. We ran through our very first Rally class, our first time in the show ring and our first time in the midst of the chaos that is a dog show...I couldn't ask for more from a 7 month old puppy. Remi's breeders Rose Salensky of Dayspring Oaks Vizslas & Nancy Edmunds of Vizcaya Vizslas along the owner of her sire, CH Solaris Nature Boy JH, were also at the show. They were so welcoming and helpful. They provided us with a lot of support and encouragement. Remi also got to meet up with her momma Vizcaya's Katona Jersey Girl and her litter mate Dayspring's Just Poetic owned by Rose.

We have a lot of training to do but we learned so much from our time at this show. Raleigh, here we come!

  3. Now your mom will try to take all of these crazy pictures just to put on "your" blog. I think the blogs are really more for them but oh well...just let them have their fun. I usually get treats out of it so that's fine by me.

    Love,
    Mia
